After months of planning to photograph this lighthouse in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. While checking the weather for the next morning’s sunrise, it looked clear and breezy. We got there the wind was blowing at 18 mph, but still a beautiful fall morning at sunrise and my first time to this location, my wife and I walked out to this lighthouse. There were enormous waves, and I had so many compositions I wanted to capture. The excitement was building as I was walking out to the lighthouse along the walkway; I was capturing a few images along the way, but the shot I wanted was out at the end of the breakwater platform. I wanted to use a slow shutter speed to capture the motion in the waves, to create some dramatic motion. My composition was to frame the lighthouse in the overhead walkway and lead you from the right side of the frame to the left, then back to the lighthouse.
